With Election Day finally having come and gone, God-o-Meter is closing up shop till 2012–or at least 2010. Till then, get your faith and politics fix over at Beliefnet editor-in-chief Steve Waldman’s blog.
As if God-o-Meter needed more evidence that Iowa—rural, culturally conservative, and home to the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses—has become a laboratory for new religious organizing techniques by Democratic presidential candidates, it learns that the Obama campaign is in the middle of a 10-day “faith tour” of Iowa. CBN’s David Brody stopped in at one such event, which feature Obama staffers as opposed to the candidate, and provides this video. Watching the clip, God-o-Meter sees that the Obama team is stealing a page from the Christian Right’s playbook by alleging that progressive Christians are under attack by right wingers.
