Bob Saget, an actor and comedian, best known for his role as Danny Tanner on “Full House,” has died at 65. Sources connected to the actor believe that he passed away at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando. The Sheriff’s Department and fire department responded to the hotel around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday when hotel security found Saget unresponsive in his room. Officials pronounced Saget dead at the scene, and the circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear. Saget was in Florida as part of his comedy tour. He performed Saturday night at Ponte Verdra Beach, Florida, according to his Twitter account.

For almost ten years, Saget played the patriarch on the hit sitcom “Full House,” landing the role as Danny Tanner in 1987. His co-stars included John Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Ashley Olsen. Saget also had a stint in the stand-up comedy realm. Most people saw Saget as a loving father figure, so his raunchy comedy during his stand-up routines came as a shock.

Comedy Central put Saget’s comedy contributions on full display during his memorable roast. Aside from Gilbert Godfrey and Norm Macdonald, Saget shared some jokes of his own. Aside from “Full House” and stand-up comedy, Saget also hosted “America’s Funniest Home Videos” from 1989 to 1997, which ran concurrently with “Full House.” Saget loved “Full House” so much, he couldn’t stay away. Saget would reprise his role as Danny Tanner for Netflix’s “Fuller House,” which ran for four years, ending in 2020.

Saget’s other acting credits include a recurring role in “Entourage,” the narrator’s voice in “How I Met Your Mother,” and many other appearances in film and television over the years. He was even featured as a celebrity guest on “The Masked Singer.” On the matter of Saget’s death, “Full House” co-star John Stamos tweeted that he is broken and that he’ll never have another friend like Saget. Comedian Gilbert Gottfried described his “shock” over the news, writing on Twitter that he had just spoken to Saget a few days ago, and the two were making each other laugh.

Saget was in the middle of a tour at the time of his death, scheduled to take him to locations in New York, Canada, and several other places in the coming months. According to his website, Saget often hosted comedy events to raise money for the Scleroderma Research Foundation, for which he served on the board of directors. His website said he lost his sister to the chronic disease in 1994.

In 2020, he launched a podcast titled “Bob Saget’s Here For You,” an interview show where he welcomed guests like Tiffany Haddish, Jason Sudeikis, Whoopi Goldberg, and Norman Lear. Bob Saget’s career was extensive and diverse. He went from playing everyone’s favorite, loving television dad to telling raunchy jokes during his stand-up career. No matter what, Saget always found a way to make his audiences laugh. His fans and former co-stars will deeply miss him. Saget is survived by his wife, Kelly Rizzo, and his three children.
