Here’s the latest from the crossroads of faith, media & culture: 12/15/23

Tis the season for giving at Lifetime and Fox New Channel.Gift of a Lifetime. Each year during the holiday season, Lifetime honors a woman who has been identified as demonstrating selfless service. As the above video shows, this year the network  partnered with DirecTV and the nonprofit Blue Star Families organization to give back to not just one woman but eleven military spouses.

Also this week, Fox & Friends’ 12 Days of Giving kicked off with Elizabeth Dole Foundation CEO Steve Schwab surprising retired NYPD Sergent Chris Traumer with $10,000 dollars to help him care for his US Air Force veteran father. Catch the clip here (it ends with a heartwarming twist involving co-host Ainsley Earhardt).

What’s left to do after a classic book has adapted into plays, movies, multiple TV shows and, most recently, a successful scripted podcast? Why a devotional of course! That’s right Hope Media Group’s hit podcast presentation of Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is now the basis of a free five-day devotional (with no commercials) courtesy of the World’s Biggest Small Group (WBSG). WBSG produces bimonthly studies that tackle life’s big questions and bring hope through biblical truths. The Scrooge devotional focuses on timeless lessons from the Charles Dickens classic including meditations on how to use your time wisely, choosing joy, searching for contentment, extending mercy and being made  new. God bless us everyone!
