Here are today’s dispatch from the crossroads of faith, media and culture.

1. Mrs. Miller sees series potential in Simon  I had the opportunity to ask actress Robin Lively (Twin Peaks, Chicago Hope) about her role as Meredith, the loyal wife of the mysterious title character in Who is Simon Miller? The film, the seventh in the Walmart-P&G Family Movie Night series, chronicles the international intrigue that ensues when a missing man’s family discovers that he leads a secret (and dangerous) double life as a spy.

I suggested the movie (airing 8:00 PM [ET], Saturday, August 6th on NBC) has the feel of a more family-friendly version of the 1994 Arnold Schwarzenegger film True Lies.  “Definitely! Nice call!” she replied, though noting “On the set, we referred to it as ‘Jason Bourne light.'”

She also said she enjoyed making the movie, had a great rapport with her onscreen family, including Loren Dean who plays her enigmatic husband, a man fighting to keep his county safe while holding his family together.

I asked her if she sees series potential in the concept to which she pleasantly replied “The real question is do you? We are certainly hoping that it turns into a series. That’s the hope!”
Well, to answer her question, I do see series potential in the further adventures of the Millers. TV could certainly use a good family adventure.

I’ll have much more on Who is Simon Miller? tomorrow and throughout next week. Till then, here’s the trailer for film which, again, airs Saturday, August 6th @ 8:00 PM (ET) on NBC.
