Our neighbor has a sheep ranch. The sheep are guarded by Pyrenees dogs. They are friendly, yet intuitively know to guard their charges.

Frisco, Lilly, and Maggie are descendants of the large dogs which roamed the mountains of Asia thousands of years ago. French history books claim that this large dog accompanied nomadic tribesmen and their flocks from Asia to the west. In the Pyrenean Mountains these dogs met an environment that caused them to evolve into the burley fuzzy creatures we know today. They were used as company dogs but also as guardian dogs to protect the flocks against predators such as wolves, bears and two-legged human predators. Frisco, Lilly, and Maggie happily guard the sheep at Highland Spring Farm in upstate New York. The sheep produce wool sold at the Highland Yarn Shop.

From 21st Century Science and Health, “The history of Christianity furnishes sublime proofs of the supporting influence and protecting power bestowed on us by our heavenly Father-Mother. Omnipotent Mind gives us faith and understanding whereby to safeguard our self, not only from temptation, but also from bodily suffering.”
