I hadn’t heard anything about Spiritual Wellness Month, this month of March, until I was researching some studies on the net.  It came up as a popular posting.  It seems that there was a spiritual wellness month last year, too.  I guess I was too busy in prayer and meditation to notice!  All cynicism aside, I think it’s a good idea to remind people that we are not just our physical bodies, we’re mind and spirit, too.  So let’s celebrate and meditate our spiritual wellness this month and every month.

Over millennia, people have studied and realized that there is some greater power, or energy behind what is visible.  That “higher power” has been named almost as infinitely as He/She evidently is.   Over the last couple of decades several medical doctors like Herb Benson and Deepak Chopra have studied a link between mind and body, with the possibility that we heal when we are attuned to our spiritual side.

If you read me regularly (and I certainly hope you do), you already know that every day I recommend you take some time to meditate, reflect, and pray.  I often pray all day, beginning when I wake up, when I start something new, and when I complete a task.  When I see people, I think I’m looking at a part of God, and I thank God for that person.  When I’m challenged or fearful, that’s when I really pray.  I pray before I go to sleep each night, asking Jesus Christ to help me with my problems and let me sleep peacefully.

So, join me today and all month, and the rest of your life in prayer and meditation.  Better yet, try a prayer walk, or spiritual dance.  I am sure you will see better health, peace of mind, and healing as a result.

What do YOU do to nurture your spiritual being?  Who do you pray to; what religion of theology do YOU believe in and practice?  Please tell us in a post.
