Hello, and welcome!  Here’s a special message video I made for you, this 46th day of the “Give-Back Diet” program.

Today, I want to encourage and inspire you to think of ways you can enjoy yourself, find comfort, and connection instead of overeating.  Here are three ways to jump start your own list:
 
LIVING
LOVING
LAUGHING

Instead of looking to food for satisfaction, LIVING your life fully can help.  If merely by distraction, choosing to go for a walk, to call a friend, or to read a good webpage, blog or book can keep you from overeating.

We all want to feel more love, that’s universal.  Here’s the secret:  as the Beatles said in a song, “The love you take, is equal to the love you make.”  So follow the golden rule, if you want to be loved, be loving.  Make some time today with your husband or wife.  If you’re single, make time to be with a cherished friend.

Laughter heals, they say.  So here’s a way to get laughing instantly.  My friend, Dr. Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt taught me a great way to jump-start a belly laugh.  Find a friend and do this, or do it yourself in front of a mirror.  Just say outloud: HA, HA, HA, HA and keep speeding it up.  Just the silliness of it makes you laugh.  Get the body started and it’s contagious.

TODAY’S ACTION PLAN

— Try one of these ideas the next time you’re headed to the kitchen, vending machine or drive-through.  Remember – you don’t need so much food to feel great.

— Keep your daily Give-Back Diet Journal going, and keep up the prayers.
