I’d love to know if you meditate or practice silence every day.  Please post a comment below, and tell me and our readers about how you’re solving stress through silence and meditation.

If you are an emotional overeater, or if you eat to change moods such
as feeling upset, stressed, or a bit down – try giving yourself some
peace and comfort by meditating.  What is meditation?  There are many
forms, some are as simple as just closing your eyes and stilling the
thoughts in your mind.  Others involve prayers or chants.  Whichever
variation you choose, the point is to focus your mind, quiet your
emotions, and calm your feelings.

Try this meditation today.
It’s very peaceful. Do it BEFORE you overeat. Sit comfortably and close
your eyes. Focus your mind’s attention on your breathing: in and out,
in and out. Do this for as long as you can. End with three nice, deep
breaths and hold them at the top and bottom of the cycle, and then open
your eyes. Even just one minute of this will instantly calm you and
focus your thoughts. Try to be private. Close the door, turn off the
phone and the lights, and put a little sign on the door: “Please do not
disturb. I’ll be available shortly.”

Meditation has no
calories or fats, but is highly nutritious for your soul!  You can have
a moment of true peace and calm, and feel very full with it.  I
recommend meditation in large servings, several times a day,
particularly before eating – instead of overeating.
