Father&Son_02.jpg
A little while back, I blogged about Deacon Greg Rapisarda, the father of a Father, becoming a Father. This widowed dad of a priest was ordained a priest himself on June 12 — making history, by giving Baltimore its first father and son team of priests. (He was also the only priest ordained for the Archdiocese this year.)
The picture above shows his son John laying hands on his father at his ordination.

We had the good fortune of interviewing the newly-minted Father Greg two days after his ordination for “Currents.” You can see the interview for yourself here, along with some great pictures by Owen Sweeney, of the Catholic Review.

Meantime, my brother in bloggery, Fr. Austin Murphy, from Jesus Goes to Disney World, has blogged about the ordination, and he quotes part of Fr. Greg’s comments at that wondrous event, concluding with these beautiful thank-yous:

To my parents, Anthony and Mildred Rapisarda, my first teachers in the faith, for their loving example of faithfulness and love, and for having me Baptized and raising me in the Sacraments.

My dearest wife, Carol, of happy memory, inspired me in her holy life and death. As daily communicants, we shared a life of mutual inspiration and love, in our common desire to live lives of faith. I continue to find comfort from her presence as one among the communion of saints. Praised be Jesus Christ!

Praised be, indeed!

Congratulations, Fr. Greg — and ad multos annos from me and all your friends at “Currents.”
