Adherents of the Bible turn to it for all kinds of advice on proper living. 2 Peter 2:2-3 states, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 2 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue…” Two men have authored a new book suggesting that the Bible not only includes a guide to moral living but a guide to healthy living as well.

Dr. Josh Axe, a doctor of natural medicine, and natural health expert Jordan Rubin have co-authored the book The Biblio Diet, which takes a Biblical approach to healthy living. The tagline of the book suggests adherents of the diet will “Live Long, Master Metabolism, Reduce Pain, Fight Depression, and Conquer Cancer with Healing Secrets from the Bible.”

The two recently spoke to Fox News Digital to share about the Biblical science behind the book. Dr. Axe called the Bible “the greatest health book ever written.” “If somebody’s dealing with any health condition, whether it’s depression, anxiety, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, PCOS, infertility, hypothyroidism or low testosterone, the Bible has a solution. If you follow a diet based on the Bible, you can be made well,” he asserted.

It’s a claim that both men have lived personally. Rubin grew up in a naturopathic family, full of organic food and good eating. At 19 while at Florida State University, however, he began experiencing severe digestive issues and lost 80 pounds. At the dangerous weight of 104lbs, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, After searching worldwide for a solution, a doctor pointed him to biblical living, meaning he turned to a diet rich in grass-fed beef and poultry as well as organic whole grains and fruits and vegetables. At 21, he was back to a healthy weight and no longer plagued by the health problems of Crohn’s.

Rubin’s health struggles didn’t stop there. He was later diagnosed with terminal cancer and given just months to live. Once again, he turned to healthy living and underwent a 40-day upgraded diet. Rubin is now cancer-free without any interventions from chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. Dr. Axe, too, had his own health struggles after a spine infection left him looking for answers. “I listened to the diagnosis of my great physician, not my ordinary physician. The great physician tells you to live with hope in all things and believe in the miraculous — and I did. Now I’m 100% healed,” he told Fox News Digital.

The Biblio Diet takes principles both men have learned and shares them with a public increasingly impacted by cancer, inflammation, and autoimmune disorders. The diet focuses on foods mentioned in the Bible, including red meat, whole-grain sourdough bread, olive oil, dairy, fruits like pomegranates and figs, and raw local honey as a natural sweetener. “If you look at the Bible’s longest-lived heroes, anytime they could afford red meat, they would consume it,” said Rubin. They also stressed the importance of good bread. “Properly sourced and properly prepared grains can be a part of a healthy diet. With Jesus being called the bread of life, it wouldn’t make sense if bread was bad for everyone. The way it’s processed and preserved matters,” Rubin affirmed. Milk that is raw and grass-fed is also a great healthy source. They also pushed back against taking in “unclean foods” mentioned in the food laws of Leviticus.

Ultimately, the men stated that the diet is a great place to start, as well as incorporating Biblical principles like fasting. They also stressed that some people will need personalized plans based on their own health needs. “I think God wants us to be excellent in everything we do,” said Dr. Axe. “One of the greatest things we can do to influence others and let them see the truth of the Bible and what Jesus teaches is by being physically healthy.”
