Beloved coach and NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is taking time away from Colorado’s annual summer football camps as he deals with an unspecified health issue, according to a recent report.

Sanders, 57, has been recovering at his estate in Canyon, Texas, with his eldest son, Deion Jr., by his side. The University of Colorado confirmed Sanders’ absence but declined to comment further on his condition.

In a YouTube livestream on Sunday, Deion Jr. updated fans on his father’s status.

“When we get back in Boulder, I don’t know,” he said. “I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m going to sit here with him.”

He added that his father was “feeling well” and that Sanders himself would soon share more about what he’s been going through.

This isn’t the first time Coach Prime has faced serious health challenges. In 2021, Sanders had two toes amputated due to complications from blood clots. In 2023, he underwent surgery to relieve blood clots in both legs. And just last month, Sanders revealed on former NFL player Asante Samuel’s podcast that he had lost 14 pounds, hinting at another major health concern.

“What I’m dealing with right now is at a whole other level,” Sanders said at the time.

Despite these ongoing health battles, Sanders has remained a symbol of strength, faith, and perseverance. Under his leadership, the Colorado Buffaloes wrapped up their 2024 season with a solid 9-4 record and are set to open the 2025 season at home against Georgia Tech on August 29.

Sanders’ bold faith has always been central to his life—on and off the field. Now, in this season of uncertainty, fans and fellow believers alike are lifting him up in prayer, trusting in God’s healing power.

A Prayer For Deion Sanders and His Family

Heavenly Father,

We lift up Deion Sanders to You today, asking for Your healing hand to rest upon him. You are the Great Physician, and nothing is too difficult for You. We ask that You bring restoration and peace to his body, mind, and spirit. Surround his family—especially his children—with strength and comfort as they stand by his side. We pray for wisdom for his doctors, hope in his heart, and faith that does not waver.

May Deion’s testimony continue to shine brightly through every trial, pointing others toward You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
