Former Georgia football star and ex-ESPN analyst David Pollack is asking for prayers as his wife, Lindsey, battles brain cancer and prepares for surgery. In an emotional post on social media, Pollack shared the difficult news with his followers, expressing his deep faith in God during this challenging time.
“I do not share much of my personal life on social media, but today is gonna be different,” Pollack wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. “If you are the praying type, please lift up my wife Lindsey. She has brain cancer, and surgery is Wednesday at Duke. So thankful to serve a loving God that meets us in our struggles!”
Pollack, 42, has been a household name in college football for years. A three-time All-American at the University of Georgia, he remains one of the most decorated players in Bulldogs history, alongside legendary running back Herschel Walker. His outstanding college career earned him induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2020.
Pollack was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, but his playing career was tragically cut short by a severe neck injury in his second season. Despite this setback, he transitioned to a successful career in broadcasting, serving as a beloved ESPN college football analyst for a decade.
Through it all, Pollack has been open about his Christian faith. Now, as his family faces this new challenge, he leans on that faith more than ever, trusting in God’s plan and power.
Following Pollack’s announcement, prayers and messages of encouragement flooded in from across the football world.
ESPN’s Rece Davis, who worked alongside Pollack on College GameDay, shared a heartfelt message: “We will be steadfast in prayer. So many people love you, Lindsey, and your entire family. Psalm 130:2.”
“Prayers for Lindsey and the entire Pollack family,” fellow analyst Kirk Herbstreit added.
Former NFL player and ESPN analyst Ryan Clark also expressed his support: “Definitely lifting her up, brother! Praying for steady hands and a full recovery. Blessings, DP.”
Sports personality Pat McAfee echoed the sentiment: “All my positive vibes and prayers, brother.”
Beyond his football career, Pollack has dedicated himself to faith, family, and community service. He and Lindsey co-founded The Pollack Family Foundation, an organization focused on supporting families in need, particularly in the Athens and Greater Atlanta areas. Their mission is to provide for basic needs and create opportunities for families to flourish.
Pollack also hosts the Family Goals Pod, a podcast where he shares his passion for faith, family, and leadership. He often speaks about the importance of trusting God in every circumstance—a message that now resonates even more as his family faces this trial.
A Call For Prayer
Pollack’s request for prayers underscores his unwavering belief in God’s presence and provision. As Lindsey undergoes surgery at Duke, the Pollack family is leaning on their faith and the support of their community.
For believers, this is a powerful reminder of the strength found in prayer and the peace that comes from trusting in God. As Pollack said in his post, he is “thankful to serve a loving God that meets us in our struggles.”
As the football world and the Christian community unite in prayer for Lindsey’s healing, may we all be encouraged by the Pollacks’ faith and resilience. Let us lift them up, asking God for strength, comfort, and a successful surgery.
