More than three decades after his father, the late Billy Graham, preached the Gospel in Argentina, evangelist Franklin Graham returned to Buenos Aires with the same life-changing message — and the results were nothing short of miraculous.
Over two nights at Velez Stadium, an estimated 75,000 people gathered for Esperanza Buenos Aires, a free evangelistic outreach organized by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) in partnership with 2,500 local churches. The event, held on what would have been Billy Graham’s 107th birthday, drew tens of thousands eager to hear about hope and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
“God loves you. He made you and cares for you and has a plan for your life,” Graham told the crowd. “He wants to forgive you, but you have to come to His Son, Jesus Christ, in repentance and faith.”
The event featured music from popular Christian artists, including Michael W. Smith, Charity Gayle, the Latin Grammy-nominated Redimi2, and Argentina’s own Rescate. Attendance surged from about 30,000 on the first night to more than 43,000 on the second. A fleet of 1,000 buses brought attendees from across the region, many of whom experienced life-changing encounters with God.
One attendee, a young woman named Adriana, said the message pierced her heart. “He spoke about sins and that really touched me,” she shared. “The fact that he was willing to tell all people [about sin], from the stage, in front of so many people — I know that impacted all the people here, not just me. God is calling me back… This event renewed my faith. I go home very blessed and encouraged to follow Christ.”
Another attendee, Valentino, said he now knows why he came. “God called me to Him here today,” he said. “I felt His love, I felt joy. Today, I believe He is the way, the truth, and the life. I want to start following God, and I want to bring my family too because they don’t walk with Him.”
Ale Neusch, who coordinated the event with local churches, said he was “blown away and surprised by the number of people who came forward.” He described the scene as “beyond words,” adding, “This is not common. We’re not used to seeing things like what just happened. It’s a miracle from Heaven, and we thank God for each and every person whose life was transformed by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.”
Franklin Graham reflected on the event on social media, writing on X, “I came to Buenos Aires to tell the people of Argentina that God loves them and wants to have a relationship with them. There’s only one way to have a personal relationship with God — and that is by putting our trust in Jesus Christ. He paid the price for our sins. We thank God for the hundreds who responded to God’s invitation to come to Him in repentance and faith!”
The Buenos Aires outreach continues Graham’s international ministry efforts, with upcoming events planned in India, Cambodia, Peru, and Spain — all aimed at sharing the same timeless message that changed hearts in Argentina: hope and salvation through Jesus Christ.
