Despite temperatures plunging into the teens, more than 6,500 students gathered under one roof, united by the powerful call of the gospel.
The revival, organized by the Unite US movement, was marked by an electrifying atmosphere where the cold could not dampen the warmth of the Spirit. As the chilly winds swept across the campus, students responded boldly to an altar call that resonated deeply with their yearning for transformation. In an extraordinary moment of spontaneous worship, many were baptized in the most unconventional of settings—the backs of U-Haul trucks parked at the event. This symbolic act underscored the movement’s commitment to bringing the life-changing message of Jesus to every corner of campus life.
Unite US founder Tonya Prewett expressed her awe on social media, noting, “We’ve been in awe of how God has already been moving on this campus over the past year, and He met us here again tonight. Over 6,500 students gathered in The Schott to lift the name of Jesus, and almost 2,000 responded to the altar call — experiencing the freedom only He can bring.” Her words capture the essence of a revival that transcends mere attendance, inspiring a deeper, heartfelt commitment among students.
Pastor Matt Brown took to X to highlight the event’s spontaneity and fervor: “At many of these campus events, spontaneous baptisms have broken out from those who’ve responded to the gospel. The temps were cold, but that didn’t stop students from getting baptized in the back of U-Haul trucks!” His message reflects not only the unexpected nature of the baptisms but also the unyielding faith of those who embraced Christ despite the physical chill.
The Unite US movement has been on a mission since September 2023, and its impact is already evident. With over 70,000 students across various campuses experiencing the transformative power of the gospel, the revival at Ohio State marks the second large-scale event this year, following a similar gathering at the University of Kentucky. Earlier, an August 2024 revival at Ohio State even saw notable participation from the university’s football team, with players like Emeka Egbuka, TreVeyon Henderson, J.T. Tuimoloau, and Kamryn Babb sharing personal testimonies and leading baptism sessions.
A faculty member recalled the overwhelming response during the previous revival: “It started spontaneous baptisms, and the football guys were the ones baptizing them. Person after person came. You could just see the Spirit moving in people. It was different, nothing I’ve ever experienced before.” Such vivid recollections underscore the undeniable impact of these gatherings, where faith meets fervor in moments that defy the ordinary.
The Unite US movement is not slowing down. An upcoming outreach event at Purdue University in Indiana, scheduled for March 5, promises to further spread the revival’s message and ignite similar transformations across college campuses.
