Pastor Michael Todd is facing criticism, but not for what he was saying from the pulpit but rather wearing. The senior pastor of Transformation Church appeared during a sermon on “faith of a mustard seed.” “If you downgrade or devalue what faith can produce, you’ll never use it right. One of the biggest epidemics in the body of Christ right now is people use their faith wrong,” said Todd.  Despite the appreciation that was expressed online for his sermon, some couldn’t get passed his outfit, wearing a yellow jacket, bell bottom pants, and high heeled shoes. “What is he wearing???” asked one user social media. Another user asked why he was wearing women’s clothing and cited Deuteronomy 22:5, which says, “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.”

Jason Whitlock went further in his criticism, calling Todd an “abomination.” “This is sad,” he added with a photo of Todd. “When you teach against Biblical headship, ‘you can do bad all by yourself,’ ‘women can be pastors,’ ‘divine feminine,’ ‘I’m momma and daddy,’ you get Mike Todd,” wrote Alton T. Johnson of Every Knee Shall Bow Ministries. His post included a picture of Todd with the heading “‘Pastors’ be out here dressing like aunties.” Smart Christians Life addressed the controversy on its channel. “How did his wife let him walk out of here like that?” asked host Rock Leach. “I’m saying you’re gayish,” said Corey Minor. They cited 1 Corinthians 6:9 which refers to “effiminates” as being forbidden from inheriting the kingdom of God. “You are a man and you are presenting as a woman… if you’re a man, be that,” said Ray Curry.

Corey Minor further addressed the controversy on Smart Christians Channel.  “Mike Todd, you’re wearing clothes that look like women’s clothing,” he said, trying to address the pastor personally. He then shared a video of Todd addressing his clothing preferences. “Who he think he is? Just a child of God,” Todd said of his critics. “What audacity does… it offends the average,” he concluded. “The only people that would be offended are us ‘average’ people,” Minor said about that comment. He said Todd’s outfits are not “audacious” but just a “sign of the times.” He said Todd would have been better off admitting to making a mistake rather than justifying himself.
