MTV’s Skins may violate federal child pornography statutes. Is violating the rules of good taste no longer enough for the network?
Meanwhile, Taco Bell is pulling its advertising from the show. Moving on to other taco-related controversies, a place called Boca Tacos y Tequila will reportedly soon serve snack food filled with (apparently) delicious African lion meat. Denis Leary mocks Pope Benedict.
The Catholic Church remains a safe target for comedians who like to
pretend they’re dangerous. Offensive? Yeah, but also pathetically old.
This trite trash aired on Comedy Central which is owned by Viacom which also owns MTV.
Not exactly a class act.

Salvation Boulevard getting buzz @ Sundance.
Pierce Brosnan stars in a comedy about a corrupt preacher. We’ve been down this road before. This may be a
good movie for all I know but the basic plot description does reinforce the negative stereotype

Katie Couric and the Little Mosque on the Prairie. The anchor, who has praised the notion of a Cosby Show-style show about Muslims, sat down with those involved in the Canadian sitcom. Fox Rejects Super Bowl ads. The network’s Standards and Practices unit has rejected commercials from an alleged conservative comedy website showing a Jesus doll smiting a Barack Obama bobblehead and another promoting a pro-infidelity website. Shocking! Fox has a Standards and Practices division? But, seriously, the network deserves credit for rejecting both spots.

Anderson Cooper takes on Dem pol who compared GOP to Nazis. How about that? CNN is “fair and balanced.”

George Clooney contracts malaria in the Sudan.  Whether you agree with his overall politics or not, there seems to be no denying that the actor is truly committed to doing what he can to help the world’s poor and oppressed. He deserves credit.
