We’ve talked about adding steps to your day by doing easy things like being the one who gets up and does the fetching instead of asking others to do it for you.  Then we added a daily walk and talked about ways to make that walk into a special time with the Lord.

But what if you just don’t have the time to work in those steps, or have knee or foot problems that make long walks difficult?  My pedometer came with a “click equivalent” chart.  It tells me that one minute of housework, for example, is equal to 90 steps.  Here are some click equivalents. These are all per minute:

bowling ——-55

bicycling ——55

shopping for groceries—–60


vacuuming —-75

window cleaning —–75





badminton —– 150

elliptical jogger —–200

swimming ——290

So if you need more steps, you can always run the vacuum and mop the floor — or take up a new sport. Badminton anyone?
