I hope you have been enjoying walking with the Lord.  Click here to read about the best walking buddy. Yesterday we talked about beginning your conversation with some words of appreciation.  Today I have a suggestion for what to talk about next.

Talk to Him about the people you love and care about.  Think about it — how much more time do you spend worrying about your family than you do praying for them?    While you have the Master of the Universe with you, listening to your concerns, why not bring those loved ones to Him?

Recently I read a prayer that the Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian Christians and thought That’s what I want for my children.  I’ve been praying this prayer for them ever since.  Here it is:

That He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Eph. 3:16-19

I pray for each of my children, filling in the name each time I repeat the verse –

That you would grant Paul according to the riches of your glory to be strengthened with might by Your Spirit in his inner man  …

That You may dwell in Beth’s heart by faith….

That Peter, being rooted and grounded in love…..

That Becky might be filled with all the fullness of God….

Don’t you think that the Lord is more pleased by that prayer than a quick, “Bless and keep my children”?    I also bring before the Lord their particular concerns and pray for each of the grandchildren.  That takes time when you have a large family like mine — but I’m walking anyway. I might as well be talking to the Lord.

And it occurred to me that I could also imagine that He was in the back seat while I was driving and I had a great time yesterday talking over things with Him.  Check back after 2 for a slump time blog about something that happened while we talking.

Eating to live and living for Christ,
