I’m proud to announce that Beyond Blue reader and group member Dawn Andrea (get to her homepage by clicking here) has started a new group called “Women Who Hurt Themselves and Those Who Love Them.” She writes about why she started this group in one of her journal entries:

Hi my friends;
As you’ve read here and in some of my groups, I self abuse and have an addictive personality.
I have started a group where I hope that women that have similar “issues” as well as eating disorders, and/or are in abusive relationships will have a place to share and learn.
It is called, appropriately, “women who hurt themselves and those that love them.”
Although I am no expert, I am attempting to finish school in psychology, and then go on to become a psychiatrist.

Anyway, I have read extensively on the subject and I am sure everybody else will know lots of ways to work through all of this. I also hope it will be a good place for those that love us, too, where they will be able to get support.
I am inviting any woman who suffers and takes it out on themselves and anyone who loves a woman who suffers, to please join me so we can learn from each other, support each other, and pray for each other in whatever religious tradition we believe.
PRIVACY is of the utmost importance, no names or situations are ever to be repeated anywhere.
Feel free to visit the group to see if you can take anything helpful from it. You do not need to share if that is too hard for you to do, but we would love to help if we can.
I am completely new to this so I welcome your prayers for this venture and definately any advice you want to pass on.
I love all of you, my friends, and hope this will be a helpfull place for those in need.
Lots of love, hugs and prayers,
Dawn Andrea
