Washington, Aug 31 : An Indian astrologer thinks that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf might emerge from his recent troubles, while a British astrologer has predicted that the next two months are the most inauspicious for the General.

British astrologer SH Shah predicted that it is highly unlikely that Musharraf could hold on to the power that he has enjoyed for the last eight years for any length of time.

“There is at least a 70 per cent chance that by the end of this year, he would be out of power,” he added.

In his horoscope, there are also indications of his changing residence and perhaps settling abroad, Shah said.

From mid-November to August 2008, the planetary aspects of Musharraf’s stars are not only tense, but involve Saturn, which is considered the most malefic planet in astrology, he claimed.

Shah opined that this can be an extremely upsetting and tense period for Musharraf and it can create difficult circumstances over which the General would have very little control.

These aspects also create a lot of inner and outer conflicts where the Pakistani military leader’s opponents would have an edge on him. These planetary aspects can bring about life changes beyond recognition.

On September 29, Mars is moving into the 12th house of Musharraf where it would stay until May 2008. The 12th house is considered the house of confinement and old Arab astrologers used to call it the house of enemies.

Mars, which rules the military, is not good news in this house for the Pakistani leader, Shah said.

However, the Washington-based astrologer, Ronnie Datta believes that the British astrologer sounds too negative, since he ignores the exit of Saturn from Musharraf’s sign Leo and the arrival in his house on September 5 of a confident and pushy collection of the Moon, Jupiter and Pluto.

Dutta is of the view that the solar eclipse and new moon on September 11 would “ignite” Uranus and there could even be a bit of hysteria or paranoia floating around.

I don’t know what these people are talking about! Since we don’t have a birthtime for Musharraf (born 8/11/1943), we don’t really know what house Saturn is traversing. However, over the past couple of years Saturn has been passing over Musharraf’s Pluto/Jupiter/Sun conjunction in Leo that includes his North Node which has been creating great difficulty for him. That influence is behind him now, and the next few months offer a series of transits of Jupiter, the great Liberator. This could mean that he is released from the bondage of his post, or it could mean that he becomes more powerful. Jupiter can fool us – it doesn’t always bring what we want, but it always brings liberation and freedom. It can also bring an excess of confidence which inspires us to do things like cancel elections to preserve our power, something many are afraid Musharraf is about to do. This Jupiter transit cycle began in early 2007 and will continue into the fall.

Because the Jupiter transits activate the conjunction of Pluto to Jupiter and the Sun in Musharraf’s chart, this cycle is likely to expand his sense of empowerment and confidence in his ability to rule.

The Presidential election is slated to be held under the influence of these Jupiter events, but a conjunction of transiting Saturn to Chiron in Musharraf’s chart could be a painful event that brings up all kinds of issues around the power grab that put him in the Presidency as well as personal issues that need to be dealt with. This cycle begins in mid-September but he is surely beginning to feel it now.

Only time will tell how this unfolds, but it looks to me that there is no end in sight to the current reign of Musharraf.
