When you think of “old people”, is it as “us versus them”?
Politicians do this all the time, characterizing the elderly population as burdens to society. But do you inadvertently do the same, by erecting an emotional fire wall between who you are at this stage of your life and those who are walking the path into old age ahead of you? When we grow large enough to embrace both the light and shadow sides of aging, we are best prepared to meet the occasions of life as they arise. We can stop being afraid of age, and become, instead, fierce with age.
