Are you judging yourself on qualities held by young people?
It’s great if you are able to and enjoy running marathons. But beware of equating physical strength, exceptional health, beauty or mental acuity with successful aging. Healthy aging urges you to learn to value aspects of yourself that are enriched by age, as well as to prepare emotionally and spiritually, let alone financially and practically, for the shadow side of the equation. Ageism blinds us from seeing the possibility that embracing the entire spectrum of aging has its own strengths, riches and benefits.
