A helpings habit is habitually harmful! Eat less of the sides; just have the main course whenever possible. Have your barbeque, but not the heap of potato salad, pork and beans, corn bread, slaw. Or only have one of those. A tiny portion, please. Have the trout almandine, but not the accompanying scalloped potatoes, stuffing, and apple pie. Or just have one side. Go ahead and eat a piece of fried chicken once in a while, but don't have the giant French fries, butter biscuits, macaroni and cheese, and mozzarella sticks! Maybe only have one biscuit. Instead of the fattening side habit, have some vegetables such as succotash, green beans, steamed carrots, sautéed spinach with garlic, or a baked potato. And just have a small amount.
