The Wholehearted Life
Nothing so captures the uninhibited, spontaneous nature of a dog as when it rolls on its back and becomes one with whatever scent has struck its fancy.
Back and forth, to and fro, its spirit radiates through the sheer enjoyment of this private ritual. Is not this one of the traits that so endears us to our dogs even when their choice of scent is beyond our comprehension? Whatever they do, dogs usually do it wholeheartedly, with no embarrassment or shame. For them, life is simply one successive enchantment after another, to be recognized and acted upon day after day after day.
