Glass Beach, California
In the early 20th century, ecology wasn't a huge public concern. As a result, residents of Fort Bragg, California, dumped trash, appliances, and even cars over a cliff into the Pacific. Since then, the trash has reappeared on the shore of what is now Glass Beach in the form of colorful pebbles. After forty years of tumbling in the ocean waves, millions of these jewels litter the shore of Glass Beach and glisten in the sunshine.
