Mormon Sacred Texts The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ About: Published in 1830 by Joseph Smith, the origin of "The Book of Mormon" is debated still today. By his own account, Smith was led to the scriptures, which were written on thin, bound brass or gold plates, by an angel from God. With the help of God, Smith was able to translate what was written on the plates. These scriptures, along with two others, serve as the foundation for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Pearl of Great Price About: In 1880 the "Pearl of Great Price" was standardized for use by the Mormon Church. The collection of scripture contains selections from various texts that contain faith and doctrine of the LDS, drawing scripture from "The Book of Moses," "The Book of Abraham," and excerpts from Joseph Smith’s translation of "The Book of Matthew". It also includes a history of Smith’s family ancestry and the Articles of Faith, both from Smith's History of the Church.
About: This scripture is a collection of Joseph Smith's revelations concerning the kingdom of God on the earth in the last days. Though directed at members of the LDS, it can be applicable to those of all faiths.
