On August 28, 2000 more than 1,000 of the world's most distinguished religious and spiritual leaders arrived in New York for a four-day summit on world peace. All the world's major religions and faiths were represented. Their goal: to forge partnerships of peace with the United Nations and each other.

The conference focused on four broad sets of issues: conflict transformation, forgiveness & reconciliation, elimination of poverty, and preservation & restoration of the environment. Many delegations attending the Summit set aside long-standing animosities to attend and seek common ground.

Give them a PEACE of your mind.

History is crowded with conflicts fueled rather than defused by religion. But most people can also point to at least one near-miracle of change brought on by the power of faith.

Can an interfaith gathering of religious leaders really serve the goal of world peace? What questions do you think should be foremost in the delegates' minds? Beliefnet will present your thoughts to the men and women gathering at the Summit. What do you want to say?
