Get Involved in Activism
Finally, if you’ve been the victim of anti-Muslim discrimination, beat it, and come through on the other side, it may be time to help others do the same.
You can do this by getting involved with organizations that work to combat discrimination. Groups like Muslim Advocates, the Muslim Public Affairs Council, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination committee advocate for a variety of anti-discrimination legislation and awareness efforts.
This is incredibly important—we can do so much more together than we can do separately. These groups can affect discrimination awareness at the national level, freeing Muslims all across America from the effects of harmful assumptions and abusive behavior.
Prejudice against practitioners of Islam is both widespread and growing—it’s time to stop it for good. Whether you give your time, knowledge, or money, these groups will appreciate your efforts, and you’ll be helping to bring the world one step closer to true equality.
