You’ll be amazed at how many everyday phrases are straight from the Bible, particularly King James of England’s popular 1611 translation from the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. You probably quote the Scriptures several times daily! For example,
A drop in the bucket, meaning an insignificant part. The source? Isaiah 40:15, which is describing Almighty God: “With whom did He consult and who gave Him understanding? And who taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge and informed Him of the way of understanding? Behold, the nations are like a drop in a bucket, and are regarded as a speck of dust on the scales.”
