Q: On the subject of worship, there are so many different genres and styles of worship artistry. At its core, what is worship and why do we do it?
A: Worship is celebrating the goodness, love, power and generosity of God. By ourselves we don't really know too well exactly who God is which is why scripture itself has always been at the heart of Christian worship. Especially the Psalms . . . which we should sing a lot more than we do. The public reading of scripture is a vital element: worship is praising God for his mighty acts, and when we read scripture out loud in worship that's what we are doing, not simply informing ourselves about this or that passage.
