Well, I had every intention of taking Katie to hear Pia di Solenni speak at the University of St. Francis tonight at 7. And, indeed, we did make it over there, only to find people milling about in the lobby of the building, being told something by a student. Things were being switched around, he said. The reception, scheduled for after the talk, would be beforehand – because Pia’s plane was a little late.

A little…well that might work. But then I saw the director of our local Catholic radio station who said, yes, Pia’s plane wouldn’t be getting in until 7:50….so we were looking at a talk time probably close to 9…hmmm….2 hours from that point. Well, I had a daughter who had a little bit more homework to do and while perfectly willing to listen to Pia, was itching pretty bad to see the Lost premiere (and its 127 commercials?????)…so we regretfully made our way out, and headed over for a brief stop at the bright shiny new Target where Michael and the boys were hanging out.

I do hope she got in and that the talk went well.  It’s like what happened to me going to Houston a few months ago, except that my talk was part of an all-day event, and it was easier to switch things around and keep people around…

And Lost?

"The bears did it in 2 hours."

I’m not totally frustrated yet, but still I really want someone to stand up and just yell..’"WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE, WHY ARE YOU HERE, AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH US AND DID YOU MAKE OUR PLANE CRASH?"  I know, I know…the direct question might must ruin the idea of that whole 23-episode suspense-filled season, but even Katie, at one point growled at Jack, "Will you just ask who she is and how she knows all that stuff???"
