Church buys out DVC showings

You can see "The Da Vinci Code" tonight for free, courtesy of the Discovery Christian Church that meets in Cranberry.

In a move that is costing roughly $4,500, the church has bought all of the tickets for today’s 7 and 8:45 p.m. shows at Carmike’s Cranberry 8 theater. "We want people to enjoy the movie, no strings attached," Toney Salva, the church’s senior pastor, says.

Customers will be given cards telling them that the church has paid for their tickets, Salva said yesterday.

"Our hope is that the movie will cause people to explore the questions they may have about God and the church. We believe God wants us to question what we believe and hold onto what is true."
