That’s what they say, you know. When you finally hit it big, even though it seems out of the blue, the humble new star in the firmament will declare "there’s no such thing as an overnight success…"

And so, after a lifetime of playing bumblebees, monkeys and Oompa-Loompas, we are proud to announce that Miss Catherine has been awarded the part of Rosie, one of the female leads in the 8th grade production of Bye-Bye Birdie.

(The lovelorn secretary to Conrad Birdie’s agent, in case you’re trying to remember. Janet Leigh played her in the movie.)

We were all surprised for various reasons, but pleased. She’ll be gone for about a week, of course, but they’ll work around that. This also puts a stop to her low-grade mumbling about missing the auditions for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, Not Very Good Day    the spring Youtheathre production – because of our trip. So there’s yet another blessing.

And 8th graders doing Bye-Bye Birdie? I can’t quite imagine it either. You’re not alone.
