On almost every thread here and elsewhere, there are political arguments trying to be born, and, at the same time others clucking at those same arguments. "This isn’t the time," they say. Well, for sure it’s not the time for political exploitation of this tragedy, but discussion? Bah. Some people just like to talk, dissect and argue – about politics, among other things. A lot of them come to blogs. A lot of them are bloggers. I guarantee that those same people are donating and doing what they can as well. As one commentor declared down there, "I can give, pray, and bitch all at the same time." And seeing those elderly people sitting in wheelchairs outside in New Orleans today…I can, too.

The other situation to watch in Louisiana  involves the localities that are receiving large numbers of displaced persons  – Baton Rouge teemed with rumors today, and there are tremendous questions about safety in that city, what with the population exploding by half or more in a matter of days.

Oh, and if you are going to talk politics, and do so in a particularly contentious, steely way, basically spending the day here, know that I expect an authentic e-mail, and I’ll check it. If it doesn’t pan out, you’ll be banned. You’re welcome to chat all you want, but if you’re going to get folks riled up, you must have a real handle.
