Well, I’m off to speak to South Bend. Pray for me, that I say helpful and useful things to law students. Shouldn’t be too hard, since it seems all I do all day is blog for lawyers, anyway…!

Be kind…

Update: We’re back. Went very well, I’m told. Met several nice people, gave a talk that I think made sense, was duly impressed with the quality of Notre Dame Law School students and faculty. More in a bit.

Oh, and I didn’t get around to your suggestion, Local Man. It was very nice of you though, I’m sure.

However, I did mention another color a couple of times. Sort of the same effect, I think.

Anyway, I met a few bloggers: Becky of Orthodoxy, Eh was my most gracious hostess – thanks, Becky! Matthew of the Shrine of the Holy Whapping was there – it was good to see him again. Vaticanisti was supposedly there, but you know how those Vatican operatives are, so I’m not really sure. On the way out of the building, Becky introduced me to the now suddenly world-renowned Brendan Loy,who’s now so famous his site has crashed, apparently.

In addition, I was so happy to see and chat with writer and now expectant mother Jessica Griffith again and meet and talk with law professor Paolo Carozza and School of Architecture faculty member Philip Bess.

Did I leave anyone out? I hope not. Many, many heartfelt thanks to Kate, who watched Joseph and Michael for a couple of hours, despite never having never met me before and our only contact being through emails last spring in which we tried to work out a speaking gig at her parish up there. What a Godsend!

The word on Notre Dame? Ever upward, there’s a sense that the place is at a crossroads with a great deal of energy going in a positive direction, if it can be supported, which those I talked to pretty confident that the new administration has the wherewithall to do. Oremus!
