Frequent readers of this blog know that one of my interests is education of all kinds – I may have only taught in Catholic schools, but I’m a product mostly of public schools, as is my husband, and I’m interested in how public schools cope, given the fact that their coping plans usually, for good or for ill, filter to the Catholic educational system eventually. As a former Florida resident, I’m also interested in matters Florida, and keenly aware of the pressures on the school system down there.

Well, here’s an imaginative solution:

Lee County, on Florida’s southwest Gulf Coast, has turned two abandoned Kmart stores into public schools.

Good creative thinking – save a lot of money, and save the community from two, big empty eyesores.
