Ahhh…it’s music to the ears of an American traveler to hear that the dollar is surging while you are on foreign soil especially when you haven’t exchanged your money yet!
When we went to Montreal I exchanged a hundred US dollars for Canadian at the hotel (I know, not the best way to do it) and the exchange rate was pretty bad, though I had heard when we left the dollar was starting to pick up. When I started to run low on cash, I asked the street vendors if they would take US dollars instead of Canadian and they did, I suggested they hold on to it because it was a good bargain and it was on it’s way up. The next day I went to the bank to exchange more money and was pleasantly surprised how far it had increased, $400 got me $416 Canadian.
