So, as I mentioned to you guys recently that I joined a gym with my daughters last week. I can’t believe it’s only been a week since I started working out, it seems like so much longer because I’ve been going everyday except this past Sunday when I decided to take a break.
I thought it would be fun to record my progress here on the blog with the hope that others who are dieting might be encouraged to share their progress as well. I’m going to try to post weekly and when I do, let us know how you’re doing.

I have 25 pounds to lose, I haven’t been at that weight for a very long time and I’m determined to reach it again 🙂 My hope is to lose most of the weight before I return to seminary because I can’t keep this workout schedule and go to seminary as well.
So, how did I do the first week? I gained 3 pounds 🙂 I know that doesn’t sound so good but since I’m doing weight training, it doesn’t surprise me.
I’m encouraged by the fact that I look like I’ve lost weight because my stomach muscles are stronger from the weight training. And I’m also encouraged by my improvement on the treadmill. I started at 20 minutes at 3 miles per hour and an incline of 1. Today I did 40 minutes at 3.5 miles per hour with an incline of 4 (with a five minute cool down). I walked 2.43 miles. I feel great but I’m also tired and have been taking naps lately or falling asleep early. Good thing I didn’t join the gym while I was taking classes!
I found that I can stay on the treadmill longer if I’m reading a book. I bring a hard cover book to cover up the screen so I don’t see how much longer I have to be on the treadmill. I know I’m done when the treadmill goes into cool down mode. If you can really get into the book, you lose track of time and your workout is over before you know it.
So, anyone else trying to lose weight?
