“He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me… (Psalm 138:8a)

A Prayer for a son…. ( also see prayer for a daughter below)

Father,

I lift up my beloved graduate to you. I have done everything possible to equip him for success. I have nurtured him physically, spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally to the very best of my limited abilities. But even I know how limited those limitations really are. I have passed on my weaknesses as well as my strengths. Lord, may my child see in me a repentant heart, a heart content with nothing but day by day transformation into Your likeness. Yes, I’ve given parenting my very best effort; nonetheless those efforts fall far short of your standard. Thank you for forgiving me for my shortcomings as a parent. And now, Lord, as I offer up my graduate into your safekeeping, I entrust you with him. In doing so, I fully expect you to continue the good work you’ve started of teaching and training him to become all you intend. I fully expect that you will send your servants into his life to further encourage, correct, and hone his character to become more and more like Jesus. And may this prayer echo in Heaven through his entire life until he becomes all You have destined him to be.

In Jesus’ Name Amen
