Prayer, Plain and Simple

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2

The Word of God can do what 120 years of daily psychotherapy cannot:  change the chemistry of the mind. Therapy helps, no doubt! We can both attest to that. But nothing is equipped like the Word to cut to the chase of our issues, bring to the light our darkness,  repair our broken souls, and remodel our old hearts to be completely new. Old patterns of behavior can be washed away by it, addiction can be overcome through it, and one can learn to live fear-free, anger-free, joy-filled lives by the power of the Word of God. That’s why we need to read it, hear it, study it, memorize it, and get it into our hearts through every device possible every single day as long as we are breathing.

Father,

Change me from the inside out. Renew and reconstruct my soul. Obliterate my old habits. I repent and receive your forgiveness. I believe that your Word is working in me today. I ingest your Word, chew on it, swallow it and receive it in faith. Thank you for the power of your Word to bring change to this old, brittle soul. I praise you for the joy you’ve set before me: a life lived as you intended me to live!

Hallelujah and Amen.
