The Dash Diet – The ultimate sexy plan? Seriously?

When I ask people, “Why do you want to lose weight?” people often say, “Health and better energy.”   While this may be true, it is often not the primary reason (or solo reason) that they want to lose weight.

They say ‘health’ because it is a noble answer, and the ‘agreed’ upon answer.  It’s what you are supposed to say!  In truth and in addition to health, they may want to look good, feel sexy, be ‘hot’ or at the very least ‘hotter’ than they feel right now.  But, they don’t want to appear vain or frivolous, so they say health.

The Dash Diet. Sexy or not-so Sexy??? You decide.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the not-so-sexy Dash Diet, which ‘sells’ health. Let’s ingest some of the basics about this plan, and then let’s meld healthy and sexy in our individual and collective mind’s eye, so that – henceforth – each and every time we hear the word ‘healthy,’ we see ‘sexy.’  And if ‘sexy’ is too much to the left or right for you, then how about ‘healthy equals looking good.’

DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension.  (Sexy???)
U.S. News and World Report this week issued its first-ever evaluation of 20 popular, well-liked and trendy diet plans and dietary methodologies, and named the DASH diet the best overall diet program.

The news magazine pulled together a team of 22 experts and then judged the various diet plans for their short and long-term weight-loss results, as well as how ‘easy’ the plan is to follow, the nutritional quality (based on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines), the level of safety (no starvation or one-food diets) and the diet’s ability to either prevent or manage heart disease and diabetes.

The DASH Diet ranked!!!

#1 for best over-all diet
#1 for best diabetes diet
#3 for best heart-healthy diet

The DASH diet presents a healthy way of eating.  In addition to lowering one’s blood pressure, the DASH diet protects against osteoporosis, cancer, heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

And while the emphasis is again on HEALTH and NOT weight loss (which is a good thing), you may, nevertheless, find that those excess and unwanted pounds will magically melt away.

In Your Mind’s EYE

Imagine, in your mind’s eye, that you have brilliantly implemented the DASH DIET into your life, and you are healthy.  You are overflowing with positive energy, physically fit (able to take the stairs in leaps and bounds) and your heart is pumping well-being and vigor throughout your body.

Because your health has you flying high, you just can’t get that smile off your face, nor do you want to.

In this ‘fit’ of happy and healthy energy, your posture improves, you stand tall and erect, your hair is flowing, and your skin is glowing.

Seriously.  You’ve got to admit, healthy looks good, doesn’t it?  Healthy equals sexy!
