KFC Double Down bring you down?

Fat Suit.jpgThere’s a new sandwich in town and it’s called the “KFC Double Down.” It features two thick meat chicken filets (fried or grilled), two pieces of bacon, two melted slices of Monterey Jack and pepper Jack cheese and the Colonel’s Sauce.
Knowledge is Power:
One of my weight loss rules is to ‘know what thy eat before thy eat it.’ Often, we look at something, like the new KFC Double Down and think, ‘hey, there’s no bread so it must be okay.’ But hey, is it? Will the KFC Double Down ultimately bring you down?
Reduce Cardiovascular Disease: The American Heart Association recommends that you choose and prepare foods with little or no salt and eat less than 1,500 mg of sodium per day. Hmmmm … this ‘sandwich’ contains just about a full day’s worth of sodium!.
Fat recommendation from Mayo Clinic: Limit total fat intake to 20 to 35 percent of your daily calories. Based on a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet, this amounts to about 44 to 78 grams of total fat a day. Emphasize fats from healthier sources, such as nuts and olive, canola and nut oils. Hmmmm … again, you’re using about 1/2 to 3/4 of your fat allowance on this ‘sandwich.’
Sandwich? I looked up the definition of sandwich and for the most part a sandwich is defined as something that has two (or more) slices of bread with a filling between them.
Keeping all that in mind, now please read the nutritional information from the KFC site and you decide … is this something you want to spend your calories, fat and sodium on? What does your body have to say about this?
Nutritional information:
Sandwich/ Calories/ Fat (g)/ Sodium (mg)
KFC Original Recipe® Double Down / 540 / 32 /1380
KFC Grilled Double Down 460 / 23 / 1430

A friend of mine got one, and I could feel my arteries clogging just looking at it. Still, I admit that I will probably try it. My body won’t be happy, I’m sure. And I’ll probably have to go to the gym six times. But hey, I could die tomorrow, right?

I think its pretty obvious that anything at KFC, McDonalds, Burler King, should be considered unhealthy. Let’s be honest here, if you are serious about dieting or just eating healthy foods, don’t even consider anything on any of these menus.23 grams of fat in a grilled chx sandwich? That’s insane; you are much better off bringing your lunch with you to work/school so that you can control your portions and what type of sauces or condiments are used.

I liked Seth Meyers’ joke about the new “sandwich” on SNL: For an extra dollar, the cashier will stab you in the heart.

It may look good but I just can’t do it to my boy. I’ve made a commitment to myself and my family. I even changed the way I cook and stopped using the seasoning I grew up with. I only use Mrs. Dash.
Great article, I honestly would have never thought that it was bad. Like many others. I saw it and thought because there was no bun its healthy. Especially because its offered with grill chicken.

Wow, do I feel virtuous! Stopped at McDs today for lunch. The hubby got a quarter pounder, the dog got a plain $1 cheese burger, and I had a chicken wrap. It was tasty without putting me in direct touch with a cardiologist. Enough to get me safely through my shopping trip.

I seen this and I thought are they crazy, what are they trying to do make America even unhealthier than before? I don’t understand why they just don’t make something healthy for their own benefit also. This would do all the USA & other’s parts of the world that have KFC so much happier.

If i have gained weight by my chicken diet lately, that’s bad news for my dad,but eventually,he’ll understand why i have to eat chicken, lol.
