A post at Get Religion takes the sprawling On Faith site to task for offering all opinion and no news: “Old questions on news and ‘On Faith’.” GR’s beef is that the world is full of religion news and journalists who cover it, so why doesn’t the site provide some news to its readers? The Washington Post certainly has the resources and journalists to do so.

Go look at the Religion News Service site, for example. It certainly makes sense to complement On Faith’s wide range of expert religious commentary and opinion with some actual news.

Let’s not be too hard on On Faith — it is a serious attempt by an MSM site to do something creative and interesting with religion. It offers serious discussion of religious topics to readers from a wide variety of perspectives. And as a blogger, it sure would be nice if they would give some additional targeted RSS feeds to complement the single RSS feed they presently offer. Let’s hope a good site gets better in coming months.
