Today is Day 1of my 31 Days of Self-Love posts to celebrate Self-Love Month with suggestions for jump-starting your own self-love and joining The Self-Love Movement™.

It’s a new year!! It’s also the start of Self-Love Month! If you haven’t signed the 31 Days of Self-Love Commitment pledge to start the new year by committing to do something loving for yourself for the first 31  days of 2014, there’s still time. And the pledge to do something loving for yourself for the next 31 days will be up all year  so you can take it again.

I advise you to put your resolutions aside and focus on building your self-love. When you love yourself, it’s much easier to stick to resolutions. If your goal is to lose weight, self-love will motivate you to eat healthier and exercise more. If you’ve resolved to find romantic love, loving yourself will make it easier to attract love from someone else. Self-love can increase your confidence for going after s new job.

So I encourage you to join The Self-Love Movement™ so you can discover what a precious gift loving yourself is. And stay tuned to my column, as I’ll have 31 days of self-love posts this month, with lots of great guests. I want you to build self-love. In my DoorMat days, I couldn’t imagine ever loving me. I didn’t think much of myself back then so I settled for bits of joy. Because I didn’t think I deserved much, I didn’t get much. Loving myself allows me to accept that I deserve all the good I can get. It’s a much better feeling than being a people pleaser!
