You CAN use your power to attract all that you need. I do it every day! Read all the posts in my Law of Attraction in Action Series to see how.

I’m sure you’ve heard it before–if you want to attract love, you have to love yourself first.

Makes sense, doesn’t it? Yet, no matter how logical it sounds, it’s more common for people to seek love from others while neglecting themselves. Too many of us fall for someone and give all our love to them. Or we give our love to others to earn approval from them because we don’t approve of ourselves. That’s backwards. If you want to attract the true kind of love from others and a life of happiness, be loving to yourself first.

Self-love is a magnet for love. The more you love YOU, the more loving people and situations will be attracted to you.

I’m not just talking about a romantic partner. Love comes in many forms. And, self-love attracts happiness. Every time you do something kind for you, it sends a message to the Universe that you feel worthy of kindness and more kindness comes to you. Every time you show yourself love, you attract the good kind of loving feelings that make you happier. Doing things that put a smile on your face radiates joy out to the Universe, attracting more.

The happiness that self-love creates builds the emotions needed to attract many other things that you want.

Remember, the Law of Attraction picks up your emotions. The more joy and love you feel the more positive your emotions. The more positive your emotions, the more you’re in alignment to attract all the things you want. When I was a DoorMat, I felt down and my emotions were negative. Life plodded by as I struggled to get through each day. Smiles weren’t a common occurrence on my face. I didn’t even know what happiness felt like. My dark emotions from self-loathing attracted more reasons to be unhappy, and snuffed out m ability to love me.

Falling in love with me did the opposite. I thought it would be nice to feel better about me but got a whole lot more! The more I smiled, the more I had to smile about. The more I gave myself, the more I got from others. As my love for me grew, so did my ability to attract what I wanted. My emotions began to soar with joy and that joy sent a message to the Universe to bring it on–all the good that I could handle.

Self-love makes you want to take better care of you. It puts you in the mood to receive, and guess what the Law of Attraction does? It supports you in receiving more.

Since this is Self-Love Month it’s the perfect time to tell the Universe that you want to deserve more, even if you don’t feel it yet. Doing loving things for yourself helps you send a message that you’re trying, and the Universe will respond with support. Every loving act you do will make you smile more, which raises the emotional vibrations needed to manifest. If you haven’t signed my pledge to do something loving for you for the next 31 days, sign now! It will continue all year.

Read what you write aloud with feeling to get the message to the Universe more strongly.

•    “I’m going to the gym as an act of self-love.”
•    “I’m making time to read a book because I want to love me more”
•    “I skipped dessert because I love myself enough to want to be healthier.”

Tell the Universe your intention. Show it with loving actions. The more you do that makes you feel good or gets you excited or puts you in more positive spirits also is ammo for the Law of Attraction to work with. Self-love attracts a healthier kind of love from others and healthier situations for you.

My years from 17 to 33 were literally thrown away as I focused on my failures that showed up with the speed of lightning. Though I enjoyed doing the things that make a haven out of a house, it seemed that nothing worked for me. Failure stared me in the face daily as I was reminded of my many faults, which brought me further down. YEARS went by as I struggled to face another day.
THEN a thought drifted through as I was reminded that I had been a good student; I had enjoyed learning and didn’t that prove I wasn’t as stupid as I was constantly told? HA! With this encouragement I drove to the community college one mile from my home. I had been interested in writing (though I told no one) so I chose journalism as a major, signed up for the classes. I was delighted by my grades; these were the best encouragement possible!
By the time I earned an A.A. Degree in Journalism, and had several freelance articles published, I was ready to face anyone who dared tell me I was a stupid broad!!
For several years I wrote little because I was busy singing, first on cruiseships and nightclubs. Later I began singing gospel music because the words were an encouraging comfort to me and my audience. Later I began to ‘hear’ lyrics and melodies in my mind, so began an awesome experience of composing, singing for many audiences in many locations. Then I recorded two CDs and had piano arrangements of several of my songs.
At age 80 I am waiting for my fifth book, THE HOUSE OF ESTHER, to be released, probably this month of January, 2011. I am sending out freelance articles and am thrilled when these are published. I will have book signings and speaking dates in the coming months; I have enjoyed these for the last several years.
Stupid? Yes, I was stupid for wasting several years with a whiner and allowing words and actions to almost destroy me. I was not only a doormat, I was a shell that breathed. Never again will I allow anyone to destroy my joy in living. God made me for a purpose; I actually have found several and am enjoying doing what I am meant to do.

I recently discovered Louise Hay has many of her programs/lectures on Netflix. Last night I watched the first one :Dissolving Barriers – so good I watched it twice and felt wonderful! Almost like being there in the audience with her.She said a lot of things that really resonated with me. Can’t wait til the next one. I am loving me here with Daylle in the morning and with Louise at night via Netflix. I am really feeling it and feeling happier than I am used to.

Oh Lura, I so relate to what you said. My story is similar, except no one told me I was stupid. I did all that to me. Thanks so much for sharing your story!
Louise Hay’s book is what began my journey. I have a pic of us hugging next to my computer. Putting me in the same sentence with her is an honor!
