The Assemblies of God, a Pentacostal denomination, has undertaken a huge Times Square ad campaign using the massive jumbotron screens to flash positive messages — “God gives hope” — for the next two weeks. They have also launched a simple website to go along with the campaign.

There isn’t anything terribly flashy (no pun intended) about any of this. From a Christian perspective, this is just an example of sharing Jesus with others. As I read through their website and their materials about Jesus, I see a wonderful simplicity that is devoid of all the political crap that has become associated with Jesus. This is simple spiritual work and I hope to get to Times Square to see a few of those 480 messages. Because I, too, need to remember that God gives hope.
