Don't be a Badventist: Get Adventist Alert!

This is pretty funny (if you know anything about Seventh Day Adventists)…

LOL, I’m Adventist, and it made me laugh. But,(a) the mom shouldn’t have been wearing the earrings/necklace (maybe there’s a BadAdventis app for that), and (b) Matt, where was the Special K Roast?!

I’m a former Adventist also. The mother’s jewelry was the very first thing I noticed.

    Thanks for that clip, Matt!!

My husband and I are former Adventist and we got a good chuckle from this. I wonder how many SDAs have tried to download the app already. Ha!

I really enjoyed this clip! As a Seventh-day Adventist I know people who would use this app – pardon the expression – religiously. People sometimes worry to much.

I like that I attend an Adventist church (In Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) that is less judgmental toward people. I work in security and sometimes work on the Sabbath, without worrying about what people in my church think.

Thanks, MPT, for sharing this!

Chris – Those people who would use that app “religiously” should be asked why they even bother being called an “Adventist?” Why not just go be a Baptist and be done with it where they would be ALOT happier? What’s the point of being an “Adventist” if they’re so miserable and live in constant fear?

And for you, why ARE you an Adventist if you truly “don’t care” what your church thinks about your choices? What made you truly and honestly become an Adventist? If it truly doesn’t matter what God thinks, what your church thinks, and about the Sabbath, why are you TRULY and “Adventist?” Seems to me it would be a HECK of alot more convenient, fun, and completely NON-COMMENT-WORTHY to just go join your local Lutheran church. Just sayin…….

Lutherans non-comment worthy? Unable to think of fake app ideas?

I beg to differ. Lutherans were founded by an antisemetic bipolar excommunicated monk. I know the white Northern European sense of humor is, um, subtle, but it’s there. Many people think Garrison Keillor is funny

Embrace your inner Lutheran chef: things to suspend in Jello; what cream of mushroom soup can do for you

cheat guides for the kiddos memorizing all the creeds, etc.

emergency baptism app with simulated holy water

As a life-long Seventh-day Adventist who cherishes and respects my faith as the most important and greatest joy in my life, I have only one question for the idiot who even NEEDS an app like this….. “WHY AREN’T YOU A BAPTIST?!” People who waste so much time, energy, and effort to make a mockery out of something that is sacred and important to many of us only do this because of guilt. Anyone who needs an app like that would be much happier as a catholic or attending no church at all where they can live life in perfect peace and tranquility. Why be a member of a church that causes you so much misery, stress, and hatred? Instead of living in fear and guilt, the answer is simple…… pick up your keys, get in your car, and drive down the street to the nearest NON-SDA church and….. FINALLY BE A HAPPY PERSON !! Those of us who actually cherish our faith and belief are happy and over-joyed to meet other fellow Christians of ANY faith who actually live their faith, believe their faith, and are HAPPY in their faith, regardless of the denomination. We have ALOT more respect for that kind of honesty and integrity than for those who sit in the pews and hide in shame, living a lie. And, I’m quite sure that God would agree. If you don’t believe it… FORGET THE STUPID APP AND GO BE A BAPTIST! Why would someone be a part of something that they hate SO MUCH when there are millions of other choices, often much closer to them and much more convenient? Oh wait….. I forgot… those who mock are only mocking out of GUILT. If you didn’t TRULY believe it, why would you even bother or why would you even care what other people thought about you? ;-)

    Kimberly:

This isn’t a real commercial. No such application exists. It’s a parody, created to point out a great weakness of the Adventist Church in a lighthearted, self-deprecating way. The video illustrates that the Adventist Church is full of people willing to make judgment calls about others based on insignificant details and/or incomplete information – and that many Adventists live in constant fear of being judged by their fellow church members. Like any denomination, there is a wide range of beliefs and practices among Adventists. What you don’t seem to recognize is that not everyone must practice your particular brand of Adventism in order to be an Adventist. Your comments (especially the ALL CAP “screaming” parts) sound extremely judgmental, and do not in any way exhibit the love and grace that Jesus demonstrated. Is yelling at everyone who believes even slightly differently than you to go and join another church really the loving thing to do?

As an Adventist, I find the commercial VERY funny and your comment very offensive to other religions and to loving, fun Adventists. You need the app so that you it can teach you how to love others and have a good laugh…

[btw, as already mentioned by others, this is just for fun. No such application exists.]

You know what’s even more sad and very true? If someone created an app like this for any other religion… ESPECIALLY a muslim sect….. they would be arrested, tried, convicted, flogged, and burned at the stake for being “offensive” to another religion. But I guess the rest of us aren’t worthy of that kind of protection and respect are we?
