WATCH THE VIDEO…

This girl seems very sweet. And worried for God’s people. I mean, this dream of hers really messed with her senses…

But a part of me thinks the poor thing should also be on medication.

I don’t post this video so that everybody can pick her apart. But I use it to ask a serious question: What is the proper response to somebody like this?

She’s not alone; most of us have known church people just like her–you know, the folks who follow news about the End Times like a horoscope.

I mean, it’s easy just to assume these people are nutty. Because to an extent they are. But then the “Baptist” in me thinks: Noah was nutty. Elijah was downright insane at times. And some thought Jesus was a few fries short of a happy meal.

So… how do we respond? Or… if this girl was in your church, what would be the proper response. Because you know, she goes to somebody’s church and chances are, she’ll mention this crazy dream of hers in her Sunday school class.

If you were her pastor or Sunday school teacher or youth leader or friend, what do you say? Do we organize an intervention? Do you take seriously what she says? Do you call her parents?

The thing is… churches are filled with people who come up with strange ideas and expect to be taken seriously… And frankly, in a lot of cases, it’s really hard to know how to handle these kinds of individuals. Why? Because they’re often fragile souls that just want somebody to pay attention to them.

Or they’re prophets of God that we ignore or avoid or (fill in your own blank…)

So… is there a proper/good/kind response?
