Well… here’s the new song from Michael W. Smith.

It’s called “Save Me From Myself”… and as I was listening to it, I thought, “Okay, so there’s not much new happening here, but it’s not a bad song,” which I thought would make many of my more conservative readers who think I’m Mr. Meany all the time really excited…

(Now hold that thought…)

I must say that the imagery that the video puts with the song is sort of funny… the ducks, penguins, baby birds… waterfalls… but I’m pretty sure Michael and company had nothing to do with that. But still, it’s a bit funny…

So I wasn’t thinking, “OH MY GOSH, THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVER!” but I also wasn’t thinking it was the worst song. Which is pretty good for a new Michael W. Smith song… But then something happened at 1:57ish (and I’m not even going to try and explain it), but it’s what I call “A Smitty”!

Facially speaking, “A Smitty” is like an oddly placed hairy mole on an otherwise pretty face. You know what I’m saying?

Now why in the world the producer allowed W the Singer to put “A Smitty” there in the middle of his new song, I don’t know. Nobody needs “A Smitty” in the middle of any song. Thankfully it only lasts 4 seconds. Which I thought was a positive thing. But it’s still there. Thank God there’s only one! So it doesn’t RUIN the song.

But I must admit that “A Smitty” almost always keeps me from LOVING a song.

Thoughts?

Please, Reunion Records, EDIT OUT THAT “Smitty” before releasing this song to radio.
