“There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.” (Isaiah 51:18)

The prophet Isaiah recorded some of the greatest prophecies in history. Some are more obscure than others.

In the 51st chapter, we learn that Israel specifically will never have a human leader who can bring lasting peace. David and Solomon couldn’t do it. The Maccabees couldn’t do it. Bar Khoba couldn’t do it. Not Ben Gurion. Not Rabin.

I am in the camp that believes Bibi Netanyahu is a great leader, but he can’t bring lasting peace.

Jerusalem has been visited by kings and statesmen, for millenia. Barack Obama’s signature is in the floor of the famed King David Hotel. Other, more famous signatures are there.

They couldn’t bring peace.

The Bible teaches clearly that lasting peace will not come until the Messiah comes.

This is not esoteric sacred writing. It is not some pie-in-the-sky myth. The Bible is rooted in reality. What we read in the Bible is what we see in the real world.

Peacemakers come and go. One is coming soon and He will finally get the job done. This groaning, tortured world is panting for that day.
